Application and Selection Process

Australia Awards Scholarships

All shortlisting and final selection take place between January and June of each year. Face-to-face interviews with shortlisted candidates are held in May and June. Candidates from countries where English Language Proficiency tests are required should refer to the previous section on English language requirements or support. Australia Awards may also arrange separate English language testing of shortlisted candidates during the selection process.

The Australia Awards Scholarships interviews are conducted by independent selection panels chaired by Australian Government officials and comprising of Australian academics, African Alumni and industry experts. Representatives from African partner governments may also attend the interviews as observers and provide advice on the country context or on specific policy priorities for the government.

To secure placement for a Master’s program at an institution in Australia, Palladium will approach the applicants’ preferred institutions on their behalf. Only two institutions will be approached with a request for placement for each applicant. Following receipt of an institution’s offer of placement, Palladium then proceeds, on behalf of the Australian Government, to finalise the formal offer of the scholarship.

Awards will not be offered until the contract accompanying the letter of offer has been signed by the candidate and counter-signed by the Australian Government.
